Jim Sevy
Jim Sevy has been involved with information technology since 1978 when he
and his Father built their first real personal computer for their business.
He essentially grew up with the PC industry and has gained the ability to
quickly recognize the opportunities that technology can offer any
organization. At WordPerfect he was able to hone my
customer service abilities and learn to listen to customers. He also was
able to refine his management capabilities, while managing problem
resolution, support and strategic teams.
At Novell, he was able to find technologies to solve
process issues within the Novell Support organization and then extend that
to the emerging power of the Internet. He was a key player in the creation
of the Novell Support Connection. He was also able to help other departments
at Novell take advantage of the Internet. He was a part of strategic
committees at Novell that determined how to use the power of the Internet to
benefit Novell. While working with Novell Education, he documented
requirements, selected vendors, managed development, architected, built and
administered a redundant web based infrastructure for Novell’s InfiLearning
system, a distance learning system to train Certified Novell Engineers.
At SeraNova, he dove into project management for external
customers, in a billable time environment. This situation made him much more
sensitive to budgets, and the need to quickly focus on appropriate
solutions.
At Madison River Technologies he was given the opportunity
to manage the development of a product from end to end. Including the
development of applications, content for the apps, to the e-commerce
solution to sell the product. He was also able to deal with IT
infrastructure issues that helped with cost and productivity.
